Jordan: A Trekking Expedition Through the Canyons of Moab, Petra, and Wadi Rum
An unforgettable and enriching journey to the eastern neighbor of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan: a fascinating combination of the water-rich canyons of Moab with one of the wonders of the new world, the breathtaking city of Petra. The trip combines hiking in the water-rich canyons of Moab with hanging gardens in the heart of the desert, and deep valleys that, as a result of long erosion processes, have created striking red cliffs—all against the backdrop of the Dead Sea on the Jordanian side. Historical and archaeological sites abound throughout the neighboring kingdom to the east, and, of course, the highlight: Petra, the adorned and most beautiful burial site on Earth, all within a short drive from Israel.

Day 1 | Arnon Canyon - Hammat Ma'in - Overnight in a hotel with hot springs...
Using a bus towards the Dead Sea, passing through the Jordan Valley (the Jordanian side), a densely populated area known as the "Green Garden" of the Jordanian Kingdom. From there, we overlook an exciting landscape of the Jordan Valley settlements on the Israeli side, followed by a drive along the eastern shore of the Dead Sea until we reach the King's Canyon, the natural reserve considered by many to be the most beautiful and fascinating in the country—the Arnon Canyon or "Wadi Mujib." This canyon is a rugged gorge located not far from the geographical border separating the Red Sea Mountains from the Moab Mountains. A year-round water source flows into the Dead Sea from the east, feeding the Dead Sea, which, in turn, is slowly losing its water to evaporation. Within the Arnon Canyon, we embark on a walk through waterfalls and flowing streams, swim in the small natural pools formed by water flows, and experience a wet and unforgettable adventure in one of the most beautiful canyons in the world (entry to the canyons according to Jordanian authorities' approvals – currently, access is allowed to the Arnon and Wadi Ibn Hammad canyons in the Dead Sea area; in case Jordanian authorities restrict entry to the canyons, an alternative plan will be arranged in the area). After completing the hiking and swimming segment, we will continue to our hotel located in the heart of the Moab Mountains, near a waterfall – the abundant hot spring of Ma'in.
Day 2 | Hammat Ma'in - Karak - Moab Canyons - Wadi Musa
The second day of our unique journey in Jordan begins in the wonderful hotel where we spent the night. Here, we have the opportunity to soak a bit more in the warm springs and enjoy a rich breakfast with the breathtaking view of the waterfall and the Moab Mountains towering above. From here, we embark on a climbing journey through the mountains, passing through the town of Karak, the biblical Moabite wall that served as a strategic point during the Crusader rule in the Holy Land. Here, the Crusaders established an important defense point along the route of the believers who made their way to the Holy Cities. We hear the story, board small transportation vehicles, and descend to the canyon considered by many as an oasis, a unique desert oasis. In the canyon, we meet the local Bedouins and embark on a walking route inside a flowing water stream in a beautiful canyon carved by two large rock masses rich in vegetation of reeds and date trees. We walk along the riverbed until we reach the endpoint, from where we return to the minibus. At the meeting point, we have a short picnic and continue south to the city of Wadi Musa, Petra, stopping at the famous Petra Viewpoint for a panoramic view of the Negev and the Arava. Jabel Madbach—the high altar of Nabataean culture—and other diverse and varied options. After the tour, we will continue to Wadi Rum, where we will spend the night in Petra.
Day 3 | Wonders of Petra - Unforgettable Night in Wadi Rum
A fascinating tour of Petra awaits us today: in the morning, we wake up and take a short drive to the entrance of the special nature reserve. We start at the visitor center, where we learn about the hiking options available to us and begin a walk on the path that passes through the narrow and impressive canyon, the Siq. Here, we learn about the burial customs of the wandering Nabateans who chose to bury their dead in beautiful burial complexes along the way to the important historical center of the Nabatean population near the city of Petra. The walk through the deep canyon will lead us to what many consider "the cherry on top" – the front of the tomb of one of the important Nabataean kings of the fourth century, the "Khazna," as the front is called in Arabic, or the "Treasury," as it is known in Western culture. From here, we will continue to explore one of the many tour routes adapted to the physical fitness of the group: the high monasteries, Ad-Deir, from which we can see the landscapes of the Negev and the Arava. Jabel Madbach—the high altar of Nabataean culture—and other diverse and varied options. After the tour, we continue to Wadi Rum, where we spend the night in a local Bedouin tent for an unforgettable evening in Jordan.
Day 4 | Sunrise in Wadi Rum - Jeep Tour - Aqaba
This morning, we will wake up early to the sound of the desert bird's chirping—the early risers among us will rise to witness the stunning desert sunrise. After breakfast, we meet the open 4X4 vehicles with which we embark on an unforgettable journey in the desert. The entire day is dedicated to Wadi Rum—colorful sandstone rocks, sand dunes, and canyons. We begin at our night camp – Qadisha, located in a plain and salty area. We continue our journey through the sandy expanses on a path that will lead us to the large arch of Jebel Burdah. From there, we will visit some of the famous sites of Wadi Rum: the arches, Lawrence's Spring, the grand canyon, and the Hazzali Canyon, where we hike and observe rock inscriptions. We then conclude the walking route between the cliffs and the red sandstone, looking for hidden charming corners and learning about water and sculpting systems in the rocks. We finish the walking route between the cliffs and the red sandstone, looking for hidden charming corners and learning about water and sculpting systems in the rocks. We'll conclude the day with a relaxing evening swim at the Red Sea (Gulf of Aqaba) and enjoy a final falafel meal at "Al-Muhannad."
