Day 1 | Lanzarote - Visit to the vineyards and winery in the Geria region

We will land in the afternoon on the island of Lanzarote at the airport near the capital of the island, Arrecife. From there, we will take a short guided tour to the nearby rural area of Geria, to one of the fascinating wineries in Lanzarote. The local guide of the bodega (winery) will tell us about the unique wine production methods characteristic of this volcanic area. We will stroll among the buildings used to protect the vines from the wind and between storage systems and wine production. We will see how, thanks to the climate and human ingenuity, unique vineyards and exceptional wines are created. We will enjoy the wines, tasting them properly with local cheeses. The combination reflects the rich diversity and heritage of Lanzarote.

Day 2 | Fascinating routes in the colorful volcanic landscape of the Timanfaya Park

After an early morning breakfast, we will embark on a two-hour guided tour of the "Fire Mountains" park, which looks like the surface of the moon or Mars. We will travel kilometers along the central core of the relatively new volcanic eruptions, where we can see a large concentration of caves, crater walls, and new lava fields. We will see the "Devil's Fire," fire that erupts from the earth, with a series of unforgettable dynamic demonstrations. We will reach the fascinating visitor center of the park, where explanations about volcanic phenomena will be given, and from there, we will continue to a walking tour of the red mountain. After lunch, we will continue to the green lagoon and stroll along the volcanic coast of Los Hervideros, where the waves hit the cliffs with great force, a spectacular experience.

Day 3 | Cueva de los Verdes and Jameos del Agua Caves, River Lookout, Cactus Garden

Today is dedicated to the visual artist César Manrique, who bequeathed his extraordinary appearance to the island. We will start the day with an amazing underground tour of a section of the long Los Verdes Cave, which stretches for 14 km and is considered one of the longest in the world! From there, we will continue to another section of the Jameos del Agua cave, adjacent to the sea. The heart of the place is a beautiful natural lake exposed as a result of the eruption of the Corona volcano and the collapse of a volcanic tube. This site has won the unique design of the artist César Manrique, who created an impressive tourist center with pools, an auditorium, and a museum, all without compromising the natural landscape. From there, we will drive to the beautiful Rio Lookout, north of Lanzarote. This is another work of art by Manrique located at the top of an impressive cliff. From here, you can see three small colorful volcanic islands separated from Lanzarote by the sea strait. After lunch, we will visit the wonderful Cactus Garden of Guatiza, which contains 1,400 species of cacti, another example of the design talent of the revered artist and architect Manrique. In the evening, we will make our way to the airport for a flight to La Palma Island, an overnight stay on the island.

Day 4 | Walk in the Taburiente Caldera, visit the island's peak Roque de los Muchachos and the Caldera de Taburiente Astronomical Visitor Center

Today, we will get to know the largest erosion crater in the world - the five-kilometer-wide Caldera. It was formed by the erosion of water around a volcanic mountain that exploded about 2 million years ago. Surrounded by peaks rising more than a kilometer above it, the caldera is filled with a wealth of waterfalls, streams, and lush vegetation. We will embark on a spectacular circular hiking route overlooking the Caldera and passing through the Canary pine forest and the unique clouds of La Palma. After lunch, we will continue to one of La Palma's iconic landmarks, Roque de los Muchachos. It is the highest point on La Palma Island, 2,426 meters above sea level. Due to its unique climate conditions, air clarity, and height, you can get a good view from the summit and see the neighboring islands and the blanket of clouds covering the island in the evening. For this reason, some of the most important star gazers in the world are located here. We will reach the fascinating visitor center of the place and enter the exhibitions that present the astronomical experience of La Palma.

Day 5 | Los Tilos Reserve and Waterfall, Charco Azul Pools, Carnival Celebrations

In the morning, we will head to the northern part of the island to the Los Tilos Nature Reserve. The green forest of Los Tilos always includes an impressively diverse biological variety. It is a dense jungle where yew, laurel, and oak trees reign and which ruled the Earth millions of years ago. We will take a several-hour hike in the wonderful forest, passing by watercourses and waterfalls and enjoying the tranquility that the marvelous forest will give us. After lunch, we will arrive at the magical sea pools of Charco Azul, known for their natural beauty, clear waters, and well-kept surroundings. Here, we can relax in front of the turquoise waters and maybe even swim. From there, we will return to the capital Santa Cruz for the joyful Carnival celebrations of the local residents called "Indios Los." We will throw white powder as a local custom and revel in the bustling crowd.

Day 6 | Ferry to Tenerife, Santa Cruz Carnival Celebrations

Early in the morning, we board the fast ferry that will take us across the sea from the Green Island to La Palma, to the district we've been looking forward to for the next few days, the largest island in the Canaries, Tenerife. We'll dedicate the entire day to exploring the capital and main port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the pulsating heart and commercial center of the Canary Islands. We'll visit a unique botanical garden with the largest collection of palm trees from tropical islands in the world and explore various sites in the city. After checking into our hotel, in the afternoon we'll return to the city center for "Carnival Tuesday." This is when Tenerife's carnival reaches its peak with a wild parade called "El Coso." The city turns into a sea of colors, rhythms, and unrestrained joy as everyone showcases their best - dances, costumes, music, vintage cars... the list is endless. Leading the celebration is the Carnival Queen and her court - elaborately costumed ladies created over months.

Day 7 | Anaga Massif, Burial of the Sardine Carnival Celebration in Santa Cruz

Today, we'll set out to explore the Anaga Massif, the mountain range in the northeastern part of Tenerife, with peaks reaching about 1000 meters and steep slopes plunging into the sea. These mountains were formed by volcanic eruptions about 7 to 9 million years ago, making it the oldest part of Tenerife. The mountains and valleys of the Anaga range are covered with beautiful laurel forests known as laurisilva. We'll visit Pico Inglés to admire the thick forest and the moss-covered, reddish lava rock walls. Continuing our hike along the Anaga Massif, we'll enjoy viewpoints overlooking the stunning sea cliffs. We'll have lunch in one of the surrounding villages. In the afternoon, we'll drive along the northern coast to the second-largest city, Puerto de la Cruz. At night, we'll continue the carnival festivities with the "Burial of the Sardine." This is a parody of a funeral procession where the mournful figure is a giant, colorful sardine. This event always takes place on "Ash Wednesday" and symbolizes the beginning of the fasting period leading up to Passover. It's going to be the most joyful funeral you've ever seen.

Day 8 | Teide National Park, Cable Car to the Summit, Hiking on the Roques de García

Today, we'll dedicate our time to Teide National Park, home to Mount Teide, the highest peak in the Canary Islands and in Spain (3740 m). It's a rugged, beautiful mountain surrounded by a caldera and ancient volcanic cones. We'll take the cable car to the summit, enjoying views of the vast caldera and the stark, wild landscape, a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Near the summit, we'll descend to a viewpoint overlooking the open jaws of Pico Viejo and La Gomera, the neighboring islands. We'll hike down from the summit on the cable car and continue along a walking trail through the Roques de García. "Roques de García" are giant rock formations composed of layers of volcanic materials from eruptions of both Mount Teide and Pico Viejo, creating unique rock formations. The highlight of the trail is "Roque Cinchado," a rock standing 27 meters tall in a struggle against gravity and erosion, supported by a narrow rock base. We'll drive from the center of the island through the volcanic and rugged landscape covered by Canary Island pine forests to the enchanting seaside of Puerto de Santiago, where we'll spend the night. Accommodation at a hotel.

Day 9 | Whale Watching, Los Gigantes Cliffs, Hiking on the Teno Massif, Carnival Celebration: Donkey Race

After indulging in the clear mountain air, it's time for a calm day at sea and watching the sea giants. We'll set sail along the marvelous cliffs of Los Gigantes (the Giants' Cliffs). These are vertical cliffs reaching heights of 500-800 meters above sea level in some places. They are characterized by massive walls of basalt. This natural wonder stretches along a significant portion of the coast and forms the seaward side of the Teno Massif. During the sail, we'll spot different species of whales, dolphins, and sea turtles and follow them with the boat. We'll end with a swim at the pristine beach of Masca Cove. From Los Gigantes, we'll drive by car along the winding and narrow road of the Teno Massif to one of the most beautiful roads in Tenerife. We'll stop for a walk in the Teno Massif to a viewpoint overlooking the sea and the surrounding villages surrounded by characteristic succulent vegetation typical of Tenerife. From there, we'll continue driving along the northern coast of the island to our hotel in Puerto de la Cruz. At night, we'll join the locals in celebrating the traditional Donkey Race. Men dressed as women race on donkeys through the steep streets of the city. You're invited to participate. It's a humorous celebration full of costumes, madness, and alcohol. There's never a dull moment.

Day 10 | La Orotava, Flight Tenerife - Barcelona

On our last day of the trip, we'll wander around the historic center of the nearby town of La Orotava. It's one of the oldest towns in the Canary Islands and undoubtedly one of the most beautiful. La Orotava is a welcoming town and a great place to do some last-minute shopping to conclude our journey and enjoy the hanging wooden balconies in its colorful streets, the cafes, and the surrounding galleries. We'll visit its wonderful botanical gardens spread across the public space. In the traditional balcony house, we'll see the ancient architecture and furniture and hold our final wrap-up conversation there.
