Romania - Jeep Expedition in the Carpathian Mountains
Jeep tour in Romania is not just about terrain, landscapes, and fascinating culture. A Jeep tour in Romania is also a journey through time: driving amidst green landscapes and majestic mountains to villages where time seems to stand still. Such a journey passes through Saxon villages and their unique folklore, through wonderful Saxon cities enjoying the organized German culture, and ends in remote villages in the distant regions of Romania where people still ride horse-drawn carts, plow fields with oxen, produce unforgettable flavors of white cheeses, and most importantly, distill plum brandy in the courtyards of their homes. We invite you to join an unforgettable Romanian experience on hidden and undiscovered off-road trails that will take you to another world, a special one.

Day 1 | Arrival in Bucharest
Upon landing, transfer to a hotel near the airport.
Day 2 | Bucharest - Bucegi Mountains - Pestera
In the morning, we'll receive the Jeeps and head north on the highway towards the Carpathian Mountains. After gearing up for the upcoming days, we'll drive to the ski resort town of Sinaia, where we'll take a short hike and visit Peleș Castle, one of the impressive palaces in Europe. We'll then head north towards the Jilomita Valley, where we'll ascend off-road through dense forests to Lake Bolboci. We'll hike along the lake to the impressive Bucegi Ridge and visit a hidden monastery in the mountains. We'll spend the night in the Pestera area amidst the alpine forest of the Bucegi Mountains.
Day 3 | Pestera - Fortified Churches Route - Olt Valley - Sighișoara
In the morning, we'll leave the mountainous region of Pestera and head towards the Transylvanian hills. We'll stop for a short visit in the picturesque town of Brașov, admire its beautiful buildings and monuments, see the Black Church, and stroll through the main square. After visiting Brașov, we'll continue off-road to the Transylvanian Plateau, rich in villages founded centuries ago by German settlers. We'll be impressed by the "Fortified Churches" found in each village and the seemingly timeless village life. We'll hike through picturesque landscapes until we reach the town of Sighișoara in the evening, a medieval gem and the birthplace of Vlad the Impaler, also known as "Dracula." We'll spend the night there.
Day 4 | Sighișoara - Turda Gorge - Cluj-Napoca
In the morning, we'll explore the ancient walled city of Sighișoara, learn about medieval culture and craftsmanship, and hear about the exploits of Vlad the Impaler against his Ottoman enemies. After the tour of the old town, we'll head to Turda Gorge, a deep and narrow canyon with a unique microclimate rich in diverse flora and many bird species. We'll take a short hike in the gorge and continue from there to the city of Cluj-Napoca. Cluj-Napoca is considered one of the most beautiful cities in Romania. We'll tour the old town, hear the story of the Jewish community that lived here before World War II, and prepare for the special off-road journey through the Apuseni Mountains.
Day 5 | Apuseni Mountains
One of the most spectacular days of the trip where we'll explore the Apuseni Mountains - a mountainous region in the heart of Romania separated from the Carpathians. This is an amazing area - canyons, karst areas with caves (including an ice cave), beautiful hiking trails, and small, unique villages. This is a paradise for Jeeps. The area is still waiting to be discovered. Here, we can see the Romania of the past - craftsmen, woodworkers, agricultural methods we have long forgotten, and four-wheeled transportation. We'll stay in local guesthouses. This is the place to experience adventures that have not yet been tried by many Western travelers. We'll also visit Scarisoara - a karst ice cave where the ice never melts. From there, we'll embark on a journey across the ridge through valleys and gorges and get acquainted with the forests and waterfalls of this unforgettable area. Overnight stay in the Albac area.
Day 6 | Mureș River - Sibiu
In the morning hours, we will depart from the heart of Apuseni through the valleys of the Mureș River. We will continue climbing towards the Sinderel Mountains, stopping at the forest house for a short coffee break, then proceeding through the forest maze to reach high and snowy peaks (depending on the season), flowing rivers, and waterfalls. We will cross streams and walk through enchanting and unique places. In the afternoon, we will pass through the ski resort town of Păltiniș and the ridge lines where the mountain lake and the Vidrau River lie. We will conclude our day in the picturesque city of Sibiu, the capital of Transylvania. We'll dedicate the evening, of course, to exploring the beautiful city. Accommodation in Sibiu.
Day 7 | Crossing the Păltiniș Pass (seasonal) – Bucharest
We will depart in the morning on the road ascending to the Păltiniș Pass - the highest pass in Romania that crosses the Carpathian Mountains. Until May-June, the pass is blocked due to snow, so we'll try to ascend and stop midway for a hike to observe Balea Waterfall - the highest flowing waterfall in Romania (it might be frozen). We'll descend and cross the Carpathians along the Olt River. A quite long journey will bring us back to Bucharest.
